What to check

The CISA electric locks have a magnetic coil in them which can fail and is replaceable. The coil is the only part of a Cisa lock for which spares are readily available.

Test the coil for resistance (typical 5 Ohms) as these can get hot if on for too long and will melt the coil. Look for the coil tape showing signs of heat.

Corrective Action

Replace CISA coil with correct handed version.

Left Hand - the lock is on the left side of the door when viewed from the inside (inward opening doors only)

Right Hand - the lock is on the right side of the door when viewed from the inside (inward opening doors only)
