What to check

All versions have an Electronic ringer A2 with a volume control in the top left corner.

Some have a Buzzer fitted A1 as well for twin sounds.

Plan 1 only - The 'ringer' utilises the handset speaker. It rings loudly when handset on-hook unless volume is turned down, and softly when handset is off-hook.

WARNING - Do NOT have handset next to ear when testing.  It is loud and could damage your eardrum.

If a door release is fitted, you can self test by linking the lock wire 1 to your ringer terminal A2.

For Plan 2/3  link G to A2 or A1.  

Corrective Action

Replace PCB with the same 'PCB Type', see option boxes, may have more than 1 box ticked, or Replace plug in speaker if open circuit.

Additional notes

If the phone baseplate has been screwed to the wall using a large head screw under the PCB on the left, the screw head can short out the ringer IC and may damage it.
